个人觉得A整个无论是句型还是逻辑意思都很通顺:Gas hydrates, chemical compounds of water and natural gas, are increasingly being studied for their potential to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and (to be) significant contributors to global warming

to be... and to be...对称；possibly causing sea floor instability作为伴随状语，逻辑主语是Gas hydrates, chemical compounds of water and natural gas

而E，
                                    as huge reservoirs of energy, as possible causes of sea floor instability, and even
                            as significant contributors to global warming

尽管我也举得这个结构很平行，但是有一个问题：even as字典上的意思是 正如...；且是连词；而and也是连词——连词+连词的结构不是很奇怪么

E 没有问题。 even 这里作 甚至 解，as..., as..., and even as... 并列递进关系。

A 将伴随状语插入两个并列结构之间，这种句子结构印象中没有出现过。如果理解成插入语，则逻辑错误，巨大的能源储备又怎会造成海底不稳定呢？显然，这两者间都作为 potential 的对象，表并列关系更恰当。

今天又看了看，觉得应该选A。

楼上google的原文我看了，上大学的时候也学过关于海底Gas hydrates形成reservoirs of energy从而导致海底不稳定的学说-貌似是比较新的研究。huge reservoirs 是在海底的。

这句话应该是这样的逻辑关系。。

Gas hydrates, ... , are increasingly being studied for their (potential to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability), and (significant contributors to global warming).

I spent nearly 20 minutes thinking about the logic relationship between each clauses and finally chose A. But since you guys googled the original article...

Anyways, I do not buy the idea of parallelism as potential as possible causes seems to be repetition. Still prefer A.

E 中 实义名词 同 抽象名词（cause)并列了。据 Manhattan 这两类型名词无法并列的。
