What you can do is talk to your friends to find out your flash points and good stories, it is better than using the essay editing service. And if you know some native speakers, it is an advantage to let them polish your essays. I don't believe Topsmba, actually the admit of Darden who gave the speech didn't use their service. I know nothing about ivyadmit, but don't think they really can help you much.
If you believe those guys, who are mainly interested in grabbing you money, have better English writing skills and know you better than youself, use them!
Often, the result you get after their so-called expert-polishing makes you be at a stand, and lost your own belief.
I do not mean all of them are bad apples, but it is usally hard to get a ideal result, since the essays were supposed to be very indivadulized articles, and those service might make them more splendid, might good only for composition competition yet not for apps , while losing uniqueness.
You may try one for test and use your own judgement!
