I have a question on the un-underlined part. It looks to me what follows "of all the possible disasters ..." should be "an adverse change ...", not "the possibility of ...", which is not in the same category of "all the possible disaster ..."
But it's from OG,so must be correct. Anyone can give me a light on this?

因为ETS自己都老讲,前面的介词短语是修饰后面出现的名词。
事实上,你可以说an adverse change in climate是一个disaster。但是,在这儿,作者的意思可以理解为:一个气候的不利变化的可能性存在的本身就是一个disaster。如果确定存在一个气候的不利变化,也可能就不是disaster。我个人推测这是作者想表达的意思,和我们平时理解的不一样。事实上,ETS的文章,句子等都是从其他资料上找的,存在这种变态作者的可能性还是很大的。
如果不这么理解,就是句子的语法有问题。到底是按照自己的理解去推测句子有问题,还是承认句子语法没有问题进而去理解这个句子的意思呢?
很显然,我们要按照句子去理解作者想表达的意思。
