因为 我觉得：

demonstrate 和 prove 都是 证明的意思。。 所以 逻辑意思上来说，两个平行的句子更合理一些。(因为这是个句子the economic and social usefulness of the motor car was demonstrated ） 所以是 可能性1， 而不是 proved 作分词。

  the economic and social usefulness of the motor car was demonstrated and （B选项） its superiority to the horse （was）proved

 况且 这 两个 事情 完全可以 平行（时态也更好一些），导致 最后的 much of the early hostility to it in rural regions disappeared

usefulness he  superiority 对称得挺好。感觉是一致的 事情。

我就是觉得was不能省

所以我不选(C) and its superiority to the horse

另外：A is demonstrated and B proved 是正确结构吗？

有什么原则吗？

白用书上的原则 ：

   并列举的省略：俩个或三个句子并列，第一句中有be动词或 become，第2句或第三句中的be动词或者become必须省略，包括重复的名词、形容词甚至连词都可以省。但连接个并列分句的and不能省略。

如：
