我想问一下：what it was ..中的 it  指代什么？ what 又是什么。怎么总感觉 what 多余 啊~？

it是名词性从句里的形式主语

换句话说【what it was】是一体的，原来这里应该是the rate，这里就用个句子代替了

比如：Moon is what it was（例子比较极端，月亮还是过去的月亮）
