4. because of（+名词；后面是句子） moisture that was exhaled by tourists raising the humidity within them to levels so high as to（so 。。。as应用于否定句且随意改掉原句中得such that，错） make the salt from the stone crystallize（不平行）

选B的话就变成了：...were closed to visitors for cleaning and repair due to moisture that tourists had exhaled, thereby raising its humidity to such levels that salt from the stone would crystallize...

错误有：1. raising有修饰cleaning and repair或者往前修饰were closed的嫌疑；

               2. its没有指代；

               3. would crystallize没有和后面的was growing平行。

不知道这样对不对。

E里的them，只看到them的话的确有指代不清的可能，但是看完后面紧接着的句子...  to such levels that salt...就不会有歧义产生。

真是个奇怪的题目。
