Honestly, as an MT of foreign bank, you will not be satisifed with both these schools once you are there. Why not stay in your current position for 1-2 years more and apply for top ten? (you will be promoted to manager level soon, right?)
Weather is not that important. but do pay special attention to the location which is too important to ignore for schools like Carlson,Maryland and others in the second and third tiers. in terms of job opportunities, east coast is much better than midwest. Chicago area is still ok, but a bit far away from carlson. if you intend to go to Chicago, you would face maybe stronger competiton than if you were in Maryland. Just think about the top schools nearby. Some people say carlso is #1 in Minnesota, so what if there are not many job opportunities? I really doubt one can compare the economy of Minnesota to that of the region close to Maryland. Near D.C. the top competition is from UV, other schools are similar to or worse than Maryland. Again, location speaks, you may read Leobear' posts or search related info on the web.Maryland's job placement is rather decent. And leobear and those accepted by maryland all stated that Maryland is prttey nice to students.
Most people here say good things about their own schools whether they are from Carlson, Smith, Darden or .... So,I too jump out and say that Maryland is a very good school as to comprehensive ranking though its MBA ranking is even more impressive compared to Minnesota's. Just for your reference since LZ is the one to invest TWO years not to mention the expenses and/or salary loss.
Frankly and seriously speaking, I suggest you go to top 10 after another several years working, if you only want to do i-banking. This is by my own experience. I was also a trainee in a foreign bank in Shanghai. However, if you decide to go for MBA in this year due to various reasons. Go for Maryland! Trust me, you will have tons of opportunities to meet recruiters of those companies in Minnesota on MBA career fairs in the future.
We have already prepared a Wallstreet trek for you guys( first year in fall) in Oct. Lucky you! You will probably meet with our top alumnus, such as CAO of Lehman Brothers, CFO of CSFB,just name a few.

I agree, you will in Maryland have at least the same chances to meet the recruiters you could in Minnesota. Don't forget the other advantages you would have in Smith. The message is loud and clear, =).
