忽然觉得之所以用过去时态，是因为前面用了完成时have swept，表示这些Tide都在过去.
是过去的事件群(all the vast tides)中的其他事件(none)与其中某一事件(the wave that brought...)的比较。

C. D. it is none that is/was… 多余，it 做先行词引导一个强调句结构，但谓语动词为be动词的结构不适用强调结构，个人意见仅供参考，请各位指正

我也有此疑问，因为than后面的wave是过去的事情，OF后面的tides的范围是一直持续到现在的所有tides（我觉得从句是修饰tides的），如果none后面用was说明以前怎么样，隐含现在应该是与以前不一样了。请教。。。
