some advice for application: every school has its own criteria.  you should find out school where you believe you have the right fit.  I did a mistake by Wharton.  At the beginning I thought with my background I will have no difficulty in getting admission from every school.  However, I guess Wharton knows at the beginning that I would never go there if I get admission from hbs or yale, since my backgrounds fit better to those schools (correct), and they know 99% of their applicants also apply to hbs or stanford.

you know top schools would consider their yield rate.  If below 70%, their rating would decline, definitly not in interest of the schools.  I failed to convince wharton that it is my first choice.

in my second essay to yale, i clarified why I decided to switch from public to private sector.  I think this essay give you enough room to show your personality.

as to the scholarship: I will be sponsored by my company.

One thing I totally don't understand is " I would never go there if I get admission from hbs or yale." Man, you know what u are talking about? Wharton is at the same level as HBS and Yale is way behind in regard of reputation and quality.  Yale Bschool is not known here in the U.S.

Just different background, different choice. Yale is known by anybody here in the U.S and in the world.

Well, as a personal choice or preference. Yale could be the perfect choice for LZ. I have no doubt about that. But generally, Yale BSchool definitely is way behind Wharton and HSB alike, does not stand up to Yale's name at all. I do not believe that Wharton would reject some one just because they think he will not come even admitted. The other way maybe true - LZ does not believe that so failed to convince Wharton that there is a fit. (If yourself do not believe, how could you expect others to believe?). My two cents.

I once asked a Wharton alumni, "In your opinion, what Wharton is looking for from the cadidates?" the answer wa "What Wharton looks for are the same as other schools".

Fra 800, I noticed that you chose to ask interview tips about HBS and Yale SOM. Have you only applied to these two schools? I'm very curious
