弱弱地说 我是这么猜想的：

of结构修饰picture 但是of结构太长 所以后置 让核心名词picture与谓语更近一些

a reasonably clear picture of the patterns and causes of ocean currents has emerged

偶系这么想滴：

首先，that从句里再来there be是GMAT最讨厌的东东，排除DE

然后，因为主句用的完成时，按照句子意思，从句也应该用完成时，排除C。而且C中的their patterns and the causes of them明显不对称，错

最后，B中有个致命的错误，就是那个have，跟前面的a reasonably clear picture不搭，排除。

In my opinion, A is correct.
Pictures/portraits/images emerge of ... is idiomatic (you can google bunch of such sentences)

The problems in B are:
1. "their" is uncertain in reference, could be "patterns" or "currents".
2. The subject is too long.

E,大家能讲讲为什么不对么？it is.....that...强调结构；there had done+主语  倒装结构；而且E还回避了A中的 the patterns and causes of ocean currents的歧义问题，为何不选择E呢？

B关键错在their的指代，是指代currents还是指代patterns，是说currents的原因还是它的patterns的原因不清楚。

D/E中的there have done是标准错误的张相。
