个人认为选A.

看每个选项的尾部差异,有thereby slowing, which slows, and thereby slowing

看题的未划线的尾部,

thereby slowing the rate at which it burns and lowering the heat it generates.

这里slowing和lowering是并列的,所以which slows错,排除B,E

这里用slowing而不用which slows还有一个原因,which就近指代的应该是a cigarette,slowing和lowering的动作并不是由烟发出的,而是这种烟里面的用来减少进入烟的氧气的数量的技术来slowing和lowering.

C项的问题在于it的指代有问题.从题的未划线部分来看, thereby slowing the rate at which it burns and lowering the heat it generates.it应该指代的是cigarette,而划线部分的it指代的是oxygen.

D项与A的差异在于,一个是in which,一个是for which;一个是thereby slowing,一个是and thereby slowing.从并列的角度来看,thereby slowing应该是和后面的and lowering来平行.加上and后就是和前面的to decrease来平行了,所以不对.从句意来看,是在这种烟里面用了这样的技术,所以in which没有错误.

不知道这样解释是否合理,希望大家指正.

C可不可以这样理解：cigarette不可能主动use thin layer…，其逻辑意思要求使用被动形式。请NN指点
