求教： 请教一语法题

经考证,楼主的题目打少了一个逗号,原题如下：

1.   _______ around stones that are sun-warmed, even the smallest of stones creates tiny currents of warm of air.

a. The cool air

b. If the air is cool

c. That the air cools

d. The cooler the air

TOEFL的并列原则有两个,一个是结构并列(长得一个样),一个是意义并列.

楼上同学应该认为the smallest of stones与stones that are sun-warmed是意义并列吧?那用什么连接呢?even?even仅有adj与adv的意思,从何并列?

这道题的考点是状语从句,句子主语是the smallest of stones,谓语是creates,宾语是currents of warm air.句子主谓宾已经齐全,可见前面是一个从句.

A仅仅只能构成名词词组(逗号前面的整个成分),直接置与句首无意义,而且不能修饰主语the smallest of stones

B是if所引导的状语从句,表示"如果......",从句成分完整,而且符合句意.

C,D错得离谱就不讲了.

看来楼上理解的意思上的并列和我理解得有所差别,若果句子用连词连接起来并列的话那就可以叫做形式上的并列了.

我所说的意思上的并列是在句子意思上解释的时候可以看成的并列,举个例子:Most companies have suffered a drop in their profits, even very large companies.这句话的意思就是Most companies 和very large companies都have suffered a drop in their profits.在此,虽然very large companies前面用的是even这个副词,但是我们可以看作两个companies是并列的,更准确一些把even理解为"甚至".

lz的这道题也是同样的道理, stones 和the smallest of stones 构成一个小的意思上的并列,在这部分句子的结构是The cool air around stones that are sun-warmed,even the smallest of stones .所以句子的主语是The cool air .这样的话从句子的逻辑意思上也是讲得通的,The cool air creates tiny currents of warm of air.

如果按照楼上的说法,那不就成了the smallest of stones creates tiny currents of warm of air,难道石头能产生气流?

楼上的最后一个问题的答案是affirmative的，

题目那句话的意思就是说就算是最小的石头也可以产生暖空气流，前提是石头周围的空气是冷的。

楼上的解释是错误的，如果是楼上所说的并列，那句子应该是: "The cool air around stones are sun-warmed, even the smalledst of stones." 虽然意思有点奇怪，但语法没有问题。但是原题比我说的这个句子多了一个that，导致sun-warm这个动词形容的是stones，而作为主语的cool air没有谓语了。

答案应该是B没错的, 把句子换一个顺序看会清楚很多：“Even the smallest of stones creates tiny currents of warm of air, if the air is cool around stones that are sun-warmed."

我明白了，我们的差别是在于对句子意思的理解上了，我认为的是The cool air creates currents，而楼上的理解是最小的石头也可以产生气流。仔细想后，我的那种理解对于句子的语法问题上没有什么错误，楼上那个并列的例举是错误的，因为将其套入整个句子的话就成了：The cool air around stones are sun-warmed, even the smalledst of stones creates tiny currents of warm of air.这可真是把even当连词用了，而且也并不是我要表达的那个意思。

这道题区分的答案的地方在于它的逻辑意思，空气可以产生气流，但是冷空气不能产生热气流，我觉得这是否定A成立的原因。

而B中“最小的石头也可以产生暖空气流，前提是石头周围的空气是冷的。”仔细想想好像也是合理的，呵呵

请注意,在你所给的例句中,逗号后面的成分(, even very large companies.)是做补语,是用来对主语补充说明的,而并非并列.

我们判断并列句是否成立可以任意去掉所并列两项的其中一项,如果仍然成立,那并列句句意正确,在这里如果去掉very large companies还说得过去,但是如果去掉most companies的话,这个句子就完全不成立了,因为在这里,most companies是主体(或者看做是整体),very large companies是部分,部分代指整体的话,自然句子的原意扭曲了.

顺便再补充一下,我们生活中所说的并列并不同与语言学上的并列.

语言学上的并列包括了逻辑与语法上的并列.仅仅前者存在是不可能行得通的.

这句应该怎么解释，看到最后，我已经找不到主句是在哪里了？

here is my personal opinion:

1.  if A were correct, the sentence would be read as " the cool air creates tiny currents of warm of air".    is this sentence make any sense?  of course, it make no sense.  thus, A won't be correct.   ETS never says: 1+1 = 11

2.  B could be correct if there is a comma there.   the correct sentence should be read as the following:

If the  air is cool around stones that are sun-warmed,  even the smallest of stones creates tiny currents of warm of air.

3.  你抄错了八.

是A， creates是谓语，这句应该缺主语。
