Thank you for your compliments.
Basically, I'm too old, too simple, and sometime naive.
I do agree that any qualitied Econ PhD programs provide people with more possibilities and diversities.
Nevertheless, if someone's research interest can fit both Econ and FIN and have the intention for a faculty job, I think Biz PhD programs generally provide a much safer environment for international students.
If he/she can stand out from a not very top Econ PhD program, he/she definitely has no problem to stand out from a qualitied Biz PhD program.
However, I've also seen many Biz PhD students wasted their talent in a mid-level or lower-level Biz schools as they don't have survival pressures, because, as you said, they know they can at least get a tenure job in a teach university.
