Here is What you don't know about Darla Moore School of Business- Finance Department

We are a growing department with 16 tenured/tenure-track faculty members exploring a wide range of themes in finance. Starting from 2020, our faculty members have published 1 paper in the Journal of Political Economy, 3 papers in the Journal of Finance, 3 papers in the Journal of Financial Economics, 1 paper in the Review of Financial Studies, and many papers in other leading journals. In addition, working papers by our faculty members are presented at top conferences. For example, in the past three years, 7 papers by our faculty members were accepted by the Household Finance Program, the Risks of FinancialInstitutions Program, the Entrepreneurship Program, the Health Care Program, and the IT and Digitization Program at the NBER Summer Institute. Meanwhile, 4working papers by our faculty members are currently at the revise and resubmit stage in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies.

Pleasant to see PhD admission advertise directly from universities. I notice that there is no placement information in your phd in finance page (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/moore/study/finance/degree_programs/phd/index.php). If you can provide the placement of previous alumni especially Chinese alumni, that will be very helpful and attractive for potential applicants. Thank you for you kind sharing.

Hi sorry for the late reply. I was a little bit busy over the past few days.

Yeah, these are incomplete lists but I think it will provide you with enough information.  Our school placement over the past years has been very good.

Our last graduate Flora Ma (2022) was placed at Washington State University.

Yafei Zhang University of Manchester

Gerad Pinto (2019) University of Delaware clinical professor

Xingming Li(2019) placed at Naikai University china

That's not the full list but previously people have been placed at UMASS Boston, UT El Paso etc

This year we have about three students on the Job Market. And they have all received quite a number of flyouts. The recent update from one was that he had gotten over 12 flyouts which is incredible.

作为一个过来人，严重同意南卡的金融系近年来在研究上进步迅猛。这对于博士申请者来说是个好机会，因为项目知名度不高且被严重低估，所以竞争也会比同梯度学校的博士项目要小很多。楼主提到的过往placement应该来说反映更多的是南卡金融的过去，之后的placement应该会更上一层楼。

I also believe in the future of our current Ph.D students given the fact that some of our papers are accepted in top finance conferences.
