Day128
1.(271)The producers are closing Meet Pauline, the first Broadway musical that had been written by a large group of composers and the inspiration for a plethora of similar works that crowded Broadway for years after.

(A) that had been written by a large group of composers and
(B) written by a large group of composers and which was
(C) to be written by a large group of composers and which was
(D) written by a large group of composers and
(E) to have been written by a large group of composers and was
D, 首先要考虑and连接的平行,并且which was的指代问题,排除掉BC,然后根据and前后u需要平行进行选择, to be表示将来,排除掉E,对比的是the frist 和the inspiration
2.(272)In their most recent press release, the new management stated that they plan to expand into the global software market via a series of acquisitions in Asia and Latin America.

A) their most recent press release, the new management stated that they plan to expand
B) its most recent press release, the new management stated that they plan to expand
C) its most recent press release, the new management stated that it plans on expanding
D) its most recent press release, the new management stated an intention to expand
E) its most recent press release, the new management stated their intention to expand
C 首先主语是the new management 是单数,所以排除掉了ABE, 后面需要从句,不然只是state intention,不是后面整件事情
D have an intention to do sth
3.(273)At age four, Mozart's father began taking him on tours of the capitals of Europe, in order to demonstrate his musical talents.

A. Mozart's father began taking him on tours of the capitals of Europe, in order to demonstrate his musical talents

B. Mozart's father began taking the boy on tours of the capitals of Europe, to demonstrate his musical talents

C. Mozart began accompanying his father on tours of the capitals of Europe, to demonstrate his own musical talents

D. Mozart began accompanying his father on tours of Europe's capitals, to demonstrate his musical talents

E. Mozart's father began taking him on tours of the capitals of Europe, to demonstrate the boy's musical talents
4.(274)Timmy is learning about the war in which much of Europe will be reduced to rubble.

(A) Timmy is learning about the war in which much of Europe will be reduced to rubble
(B) Timmy learned about the war in which much of Europe had been reduced to rubble
(C) Timmy had learned about the war in which much of Europe was reduced to rubble
(D) Timmy has learned about the war in which much of Europe must have been bee reduced to rubble
(E) Timmy learned about the war in which much of Europe was reduced to rubble
5.(275)Although its sting is said to be less painful than only the aptly-named bullet ant, the tarantula hawk wasp rarely bothers humans, and its sting lasts for only five minutes.

A. the aptly-named bullet ant, the tarantula hawk wasp rarely bothers humans, and its sting lasts for
B. that of the aptly-named bullet ant, the tarantula hawk wasp rarely bothers humans, and the pain from its sting lasts
C. that of the aptly-named bullet ant and it rarely bothers humans, the tarantula hawk wasp’s sting causes pain that lasts for
D. the aptly-named bullet ant’s, the tarantula hawk wasp rarely bothers humans, and the pain from its sting lasts for
E. the aptly-named bullet ant’s and it rarely bothers humans, when the tarantula hawk wasp does sting, the pain lasts
6.(276)Until Tammy Howard proved otherwise in the 18th century, many scientists had believed that combustion released phlogiston, an imaginary substance whose properties were not fully understood

A. many scientists had believed that combustion released phlogiston, an imaginary substance whose properties were not fully understood
B. many scientists believed that phlogiston was an imaginary substance released by combustion and its properties were not fully understood
C. phlogiston was an imaginary substance whose properties were not fully understood and which many scientists had believed was released by combustion
D. phlogiston, an imaginary substance whose properties were not fully understood, was believed by scientists to be released by combustion
E. many scientists had believed that phlogiston was released by combustion and was an imaginary substance whose properties were not fully understood.

7.(277)The work of Byron and Shelley, like other poets of their era, explored themes of love and beauty, which gave rise to the school of poetry known as Romanticism.

A. The work of Byron and Shelley, like other poets of their era, explored themes of love and beauty, which gave rise to the school of poetry known as Romanticism.
B. Byron and Shelley, like other poets of their era, explored themes of love and beauty in their work, giving rise to the school of poetry known as Romanticism.
C. Like other poets of their era, Byron and Shelley's work explored themes of love and beauty, giving rise to the school of poetry known as Romanticism.
D. Love and beauty are themes explored by the work of Byron and Shelley, like they were by other poets of the era, and they gave rise to the school of poetry known as Romanticism.
E. The school of poetry known as Romanticism rose from the works of Byron and Shelley, which was like that of other poets of the era in exploring themes of love and beauty.
8.(278)Atul Gawande, the former surgeon general, in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, argues that doctors could use the same sort of checklists as pilots and greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving both money and lives.

A) Atul Gawande, the former surgeon general, in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, argues that doctors could use the same sort of checklists as pilots and greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving both
B) Atul Gawande, the former surgeon general, argues in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctors could use the same sort of checklists that pilots do to greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving both
C) Former surgeon general Atul Gawande argues in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctors could use the same sort of checklists as pilots, greatly reducing the number of medical errors, saving
D) Former surgeon general Atul Gawande argues in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctors could use the same sort of checklists that pilots do to greatly reduce the number of medical errors, both saving
E) In his book, The Checklist Manifesto, former surgeon general Atul Gawande argues that doctors could use the same sort of checklists that pilots use to greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving 这里不是pilot use checklist,
E 首先最后面的both and 可以排除掉D,然后不是as pilot,排除掉AC。
B 这道题的句意也很重要,是argue in his book,不是这个人argue

9.(279)Many computer databases impose formatting requirements, such as minimum numbers of capital letters or numerals, on users’ passwords in an attempt to enhance security; ironically, these measures often make the passwords easier to guess, as users are more likely to select the simplest possible password that conforms to all the rules.

A. security; ironically, these measures often make the passwords easier to guess, as users are

B.security; these measures, ironically, often result in users creating passwords that are easier to guess and password

C.security – ironic measures that often cause passwords to be easier to guess because they are

D.security – measures that, ironically, often make passwords that are easier to guess, with users

E.security – often, ironically, making the passwords easier to guess and making users
10.(280)When ethnic groups intermarry, it is likely to result in cognitive benefits; indeed, perhaps already having contributed to the Flynn effect, which has been the worldwide rise in average IQ score by as much as three points per decade over most of the past century.

(A) When ethnic groups intermarry, it is likely to result in cognitive benefits; indeed, perhaps having contributed to the Flynn effect, which has been 首先单复数,然后可以直接用sth likely to do

(B) The intermarriage of ethnic groups is likely to result in cognitive benefits and may indeed have contributed to the Flynn effect,

(C) When ethnic groups intermarry, they are likely to result in cognitive benefits and may indeed have contributed to the Flynn effect, the name given to 这里应该是intermarry 的影响

(D) Ethnic groups that intermarry will likely result in cognitive benefits; indeed, possibly having contributed to the Flynn effect,

(E) The intermarriage of ethnic groups, likely to result in cognitive benefits, indeed have possibly contributed to the Flynn effect, the name given to
10.B 不确定

3.(273)At age four, Mozart's father began taking him on tours of the capitals ofEurope, in order to demonstrate his musical talents.

A. Mozart's fatherbegan taking him on tours of the capitals of Europe, in order to demonstratehis musical talents

B. Mozart's fatherbegan taking the boy on tours of the capitals of Europe, to demonstrate hismusical talents

C. Mozart began accompanying his father on tours of thecapitals of Europe, to demonstrate his own musical talents 这个有点奇怪,答案是说capitals of Europe是ok,但是Europe’s capitals会造成误解。

D. Mozart began accompanying his father on tours of Europe'scapitals, to demonstrate his musical talents

E. Mozart's fatherbegan taking him on tours of the capitals of Europe, to demonstrate the boy'smusical talents
C错选D

8.(278)AtulGawande, the former surgeon general, in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, argues that doctors could use the same sort of checklists as pilots and greatlyreduce the number of medical errors, saving both money andlives.

A) Atul Gawande, the former surgeon general, in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, argues thatdoctors could use the same sort of checklists as pilots and greatly reduce thenumber of medical errors, saving both

B) Atul Gawande, the former surgeon general, argues in hisbook, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctors could use the same sort ofchecklists that pilots do to greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving both

C) Former surgeongeneral Atul Gawande argues in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctorscould use the same sort of checklists as pilots, greatly reducing the number ofmedical errors, saving

D) Former surgeongeneral Atul Gawande argues in his book, The Checklist Manifesto, that doctorscould use the same sort of checklists that pilots do to greatly reduce thenumber of medical errors, both saving

E) In his book, The Checklist Manifesto, former surgeongeneral Atul Gawande argues that doctors could use the same sort of checkliststhat pilots use to greatly reduce the number of medical errors, saving
整明白了,后面这句话“that pilots use to greatly reduce the number ofmedical errors”看起来像一整句话,然而greatly reduce xx应该是医生做的。
B错选E

Day128_17min36s
271        D
the first Broadway musical以及后面的部分是同位语,不能是一个完整句子,那门后面的两个部分就都是修饰且要parallel,一切出现谓语was的都错CE

[size=14.7333px]n. to be done 是指这个东西即将被done,to be written就是这玩意还没写,人家已经写了

272        D
C plan on 排

有his就够了加own干嘛(加own 好区分这个his指的不是他爹。。。
274      EA will be。。。

275   A错——B
首先是比较对象一致性sting than sting 排A(不能用‘s表示sting2吧,排DE)
我是疯了才会选A吧,sting lasts for ...
[size=14.7333px]还是要读懂题目,转折转在哪,就是这玩意虽然威力大,但是很少蛰人且疼痛只持续5min

[size=14.7333px]而不是虽然毒性大且很少蛰人,但它导致的疼痛只维持5min
[size=14.7333px]再次是although引导的转语从句修饰主句的动词或是句子the opening modifier although it … humans incorrectly modifies the tarantula hawk wasp’s sting, although its,后面主句的主语应该是it这个东西,如果是sting的话,前面就不必用its,直接用sting of ,就是sting做主语了
the aptly-named bullet ant’s——[size=14.7333px]aptly-named会直接修饰[size=14.7333px]bullet ant’s(也就是它的sting),而不是原文的意思了

[size=14.7333px]

276        B错——A
C and which排

277        B
poet诗人,work的AC排
D 被动排
Ewhich

D both and不平行排

279        A
B these measures, ironically, often result in users creating passwords,这里的错误很像那个 of sb doing ,of只of了sb,这里result in 只in 了user,只有后面一个名词本身,而不能把doing的意思也包含进去

280        B
