It may be true that many applicants prefer to be in low key this time around. On the other hand, however, a number of programs are said to be cutting back on new student intakes this year.

thanks for the info... It looks like many (top) schools still interview quite a lot of candidates (at least for OB field). Hopefully this is a good sign...

Many of the top schools boast fat endowments and also are generally less immune from the adverse effects of economic downturns. I am hopeful that you will achieve your goal of obtaining a PhD in business at such a school.

By the way, I write in English for the sole purpose of giving myself an easier time (I used to insist on writing in Chinese, and that had proven to be a laborious, irksome task).
