Essay Questions
Applicants must complete one short answer question and three essays.
Short Answer Question:
What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 characters maximum)
Examples of possible responses:
“Work in business development for a media company.”
“Join a strategy consulting firm.”
“Launch a data-management start-up.”
Essay 1
Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals over the next three to five years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-term dream job? (500 words)
Essay 2 and 3:
Please respond to two (2) of the three (3) essay questions listed below:
【NEW】The Phillips Pathway for Inclusive Leadership (PPIL) is a new co-curricular program designed to ensure that every CBS student develops the skills to become an ethical and inclusive leader. Through PPIL, students attend programming focused on give essential diversity, equity, and inclusion skills: Creating an Inclusive Environment, Mitigating Bias, Communicating Across Identities, Addressing Systemic Inequality, and Managing Difficult Conversations. Tell us about a time you were challenged around one of these five skills.  Describe the situation, the actions you took, and the outcome. (250 words)
— Why do you feel Columbia Business School is a good fit for you? (250 words)
— Tell us about your favorite book, movie, or song and why it resonates with you? (250 words)

Essay解析
CBS在去年文书题目的基础上,增加了一道较为新颖的题型,题目以CBS一门新的辅修课程为切入点,让学生将五项技能与个人相连结。同时,学校提供了自由选择的机会,如果你觉得这道题不好入手,可以选择另外两道Essay题目(同去年)。点击这里查看去年文书解析。

关于PPIL,它是同类项目中的首创,由 Mariah Celestine '20 和 Camira Livers-Powell '20 与 DEI 团队合作设计,是一个联合课程项目,旨在通过评估、研讨会和项目努力的组合,使所有学术项目的学生在哥伦比亚大学商学院的教育旅程中掌握管理多样性的基本技能。PPIL项目将在哥大今年春季学期进行 "试运行",在此期间,所有学生将有机会参加各种活动和研讨会。在这个分阶段的推广过程中,所有一年级的MBA学生将被要求至少参加一次PPIL批准的课程,并提交一份活动后的反馈表。同时,一组来自各学术项目的学生将在PPIL学生咨询委员会任职,以便在明年秋季在全校范围内为所有MBA、EMBA、MS和PhD学生推出之前进一步完善该项目。

PPIL 有四个影响目标:
学者:提高学生对多元化商业案例的认识,并开发自己的包容性领导力。
职业:鼓励学生在 CBS 期间练习管理差异,以更好地为工作和领导角色做好准备。
社区:为所有课程的学生创造一个包容的环境,拥抱各种形式的多样性。
CBS 声誉:强调 CBS 对 DEI 的承诺,并赋能 CBS 成为领先商学院中 DEI 的先驱。

学校表示非常渴望看到 PPIL 的成功推出,并看到 Camira 和 Mariah 的愿景实现。这些该是今年哥大以此为Essay题目的原因。
