为什么不能是 by (Einstein's theory of relativity and also the better ability to observe extremely distant astronomical objects) 呢？

以及关于and also搜了一下，ron说并不是redundant

"you may not ever have seen "and also" in a correct SC answer, but there are certainly situations in which it is acceptable.

我是这么理解的，题干前面有was made， C was made because of both A and B？不太好吧。
如果 C was made by both A and B,这样会不会更好呢

在 gmat 中, coordinate conj. 连接的成分不能省略，要补出关系词、引导词等等 marker，比如最常见的就是两个或以上的宾语从句并列，宾语从句的 that 都不能省略：
I know that he cheated on me, that he has been an asshole, and that he will end up dying alone.

对于其他的成分也是如此，包括修饰语、名词性从句等等，这里就是 by 引导的方式状语相并列
