我的问题是，为啥 cookies has fewer calories 可以和 in an quivalent amount of corn syrup 平行？用 an quivalent amount of corn syrup has 表述不是更好吗？

额，首先楼主搞错了一件事，不是cookies has fewer calories ，是SugarFree has fewer calories。
句意上是无糖和玉米糖浆作比较，其次cookies是复数，接have。

然后呢，再来看比较。SugarFree has fewer calories than an equivalent amount of corn syrup has.
这是楼主认为更合理的句子
我们再把缺失部分补齐。
SugarFree has fewer calories than an equivalent amount of corn syrup has calories.
fewer做形容词修饰名词calories，那么我们要比较的就是宾语。
宾语比较，在这儿自然是名词和名词比较。
而如果换成上句这个样子的话，显然没有可比性，名词不能和一个句子进行比较吧。


SugarFree has fewer calories than in an equivalent amount of corn syrup.正确句子是这样的，其中有省略了calories，下一句把它补上。
SugarFree has fewer calories than calories in an equivalent amount of corn syrup.
而这句话直接显示出了宾语比较关系，fewer calories than calories
calories 和 calories 在进行比较，所以正确
