思路：理解句子意思，有转折的意思，看句子主干结构
A：conception was....telephone,  a tool.; instead, it is咋看没毛病，放着
B：conceived of ...as...telephone, a tool..., but which is...but后边接完整的独立的句子，which这里算个啥啊，又不引导从句，排除
C：conceived of ...as a tool.....conversation that....; instead, it has become...除了that离a tool有隔了一个for private conversation, 其他都好，放着
D：conceived of .... conversation, a substitute这里同位语去解释conversation不合逻辑；后边which has become的which修饰conversation还是tool，有点奇怪，逻辑上是修饰radio的；而且没有转折语气了
E：other than what it is，precisely the opposite接后边比较奇怪
对比A和C，动词优秀于名词，选C

OG补充：
conceived of n as n， 不是to be， 排除D E
A中用conception是比较wordy，明明有动词形式，还要用名词+was（静态），是不合适的，明明用动词形式更优秀
B中which容易让人觉得修饰的telephone；整个句子也很awkward
E中的other than what it is是wordy, awkward and redundant, overlapping“precisely the opposite"的意思（此处不是很理解为什么overlapping?)

注意其他网友补充：
C中其实不是「跳跃修饰」，应该正名为[包覆修饰]，原因是a tool for private conversation这个大名词的核心成分始终是a tool所以我们才误以为关代跳过for private conversation不理，只去修饰a tool。
事实上，关代子句的正确还原应为： a tool for private conversation could substitute for the telephone. 而非 a tool could substitute for the telephone.

同理，D中同位语修饰的也不是conversation，而是中心词tool, 因此OG没说D中的同位语修饰有问题。

另外，有的网友说A B还有个问题就是同位语atool for conversation错误的修饰了telephone，而逻辑上是修饰radio，我不以为然啊。我觉得A中是原文，理解为telephone的同位语也也不为过，substitute for telephone, 也就是substitute for atool for private conversation. OG的解释也没提这里有问题

2.E中的other than what it is如何overlapping呢？

不对，a substitute应当指radio，这里就近修饰 conversation
有问题，which 应当修饰radio，这里没法修饰到radio
2.E中的other than what it is如何overlapping呢
other than和precisely the opposite，这两个词overlapping了
3.这里is和has become有差吗？
有。马可尼本来打算这样，结果变成了那样。 有个转变的因素，所以要用become

想问问为什么other than 会overlapping,但是instead没有呀
