Comma + "concluding" is nonsense, because "...concluding" doesn't in any way describe the previous part. The "conclusion" is something that the scientists did later.
• It's not a description of the previous part.
• Because this conclusion demanded active deduction on the scientists' part, it's not a necessary/inevitable consequence of the previous part. (Immediate and inevitable consequences can also be expressed with comma + __ing: e.g., The car ran up onto the sidewalk and into the crowd, injuring five pedestrians.)

Each year companies in the United States could save as much as $58 billion annually by preventing illness among employees and gain as much as $200 billion through improving performance of workers if they simply provided offices with cleaner air.

(D) in employee illness prevention and gain as much as $200 billion through improving performance of workers if they simply provided
(E) by preventing illness among employees and gain as much as $200 billion through improved worker performance if they simply provided

2. modifier

quant:
(2)It takes 6 times as long to run the cartoon as it takes to rewind the film, and it takes a total of 14 minutes to do both.

Verbal:
1. In the past several years, astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets, most of them at least as large as Jupiter, circling other stars.
红色句是插入语,所以most of them只能指代planets,没有歧义。

2. On Earth, among the surest indications of sunspot cycles are believed to be the rate that trees grow, as seen in the rings visible in the cross sections of their trunks.
A: On Earth, among the surest indications of sunspot cycles are believed to be the rate that trees grow

E: Among the surest indications on Earth of sunspot cycles is believed to be the rate at which trees grow

3. At one time, the majestic American chestnut was so prevalent that it was said a squirrel could jump from tree to tree without once touching the ground between New York State and Georgia.
  • Aso prevalent that it was said a squirrel could 分析该选项
  • Bso prevalent that a squirrel was said that it could

4. Among lower-paid workers, union members are less likely than nonunion members to be enrolled in lower-end insurance plans imposing stricter limits on medical services and requiring doctors to see more patients, and spend less time with each.
  • Dthat impose stricter limits on medical services and require doctors to see more patients, spending
  • Ethat impose stricter limits on medical services, requiring doctors to see more patients and spending

RC
  • Cas intricate as those carried out by the largest multinational corporations today

I choose A instead of C because I think it is more like a paraphrase to the original sentence. But after the test, I come back and check why C is wrong. Here is my explanation: the 'today' is wrong. Coz the original sentence should be "The large volume of transactions associated.....", the 'modern' in this sentence refers to 19 century rather than today.

  • DThe red light, yellow light, and blue light of such a star are observed to be magnified temporarily by the same factor.
  • However, whereas the different colors of light emitted by an intrinsically variable star are affected differently when the star brightens, all of a star's colors are equally affected by microlensing.

Tom, Jane, and Sue each purchased a new house. The average (arithmetic mean) price of the three houses was $120,000. What was the median price of the three houses?

verbal:
SC:
1. under which= according to??? Ron
2. Prep 2007 Test1 #94 Unlike balbalbal 正确答案是and so 连用的,需确认
3. Whereas the use of synthetic fertilizers has greatly expanded agricultural productivity in many parts of the world, an increase in their use can create serious environmental problems such as water pollution, and their substitution for more traditional fertilizers may accelerate soil structure deterioration and soil erosion.
  • Aan increase in their use can create serious environmental problems such as water pollution, and their substitution for more traditional fertilizers
  • D the increased usage of these fertilizers can create serious environmental problems such as water pollution, while if substituted for more traditional fertilizers, this substitution

4.India, like Italy and China, has no single dominant cuisine: Indian food comprises many different styles of cooking, with each a product of their regional influences, from the fiery vegetarian dishes of the south to the Portuguese-influenced Goan cooking of the west, to the more familiar Mogul food of the north.
  • Deach a product of 分析该选项
  • Eeach products of

写完整来看应该是each style of cooking is a product of regional influences吧,这里是独立主格,因此只留下了主系表里的主(each)和表(a product of)部分
原句是:each of which is a product of ..... ,這裡省略of which is
5.A recent review of pay scales indicates that CEO's now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times in 1980.
  • Bthat, on average, CEO's now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, a ratio that compares to 42 times
  • Cthat, on average, CEO's now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio

前者419 times the pay of blue-collar workers表达的是工资数,而后者42 times是比率

it is obvious that 你吃了饭(主谓宾)
it has been said that 你吃了饭(主谓宾)
2、it+描述+to do:
the rain made it quite challenging to 种地(动词).
3、it+to be verb+N.+that/who+V:
it was my own brother who committed the crime.

7. According to two teams of paleontologists, recent fossil discoveries in Pakistan show that whales, porpoises, and dolphins are more closely related to some of the oldest known even-toed ungulates--a group of hoofed mammals that today includes cows, camels, pigs, and hippos--than to any other mammals.

8.Like any star of similar mass would do, once the Sun has exhausted the hydrogen in its core, it expands into a red giant, eventually ejecting its outer envelope of gases to become a white dwarf.
  • ALike any star of similar mass would do, once the Sun has exhausted the hydrogen in its core, it expands into a red giant, eventually ejecting
  • BLike any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted, then it expands into a red giant and eventually ejects
  • CAs in the case of any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted, it will expand into a red giant, and eventually ejecting 分析该
  • DAs any star of similar mass would, once the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted it will expand into a red giant and will eventually eject
  • EAs would be the case with any star of similar mass, once the Sun exhausts the hydrogen in its core, it will expand into a red giant and eventually eject
E是it可以相对应指代,什么意思呢:once the sun ...., it will ...

卧槽太狡诈了!!!gmac太狡诈了!!!D the location of the village does not provide ready access to an adequate variety of ecological zones.

。1. a+b+c<13, 2. a<b<c<13。
3. 第三题emm漏看了一个条件,each is a factor of interger n.
