India IS the colony of Britain NOT "was ruled AS" a colony.  印度是英国的殖民地是一个事实，你不能用as a colony - 意思好像是印度不是一个殖民地，而是被统治的方式像一个殖民地

the british就是指英国人，而不是英国这个国家，英国这个国家是United Kingdom

the gmat doesn't tolerate this sort of circumlocution. you have to say things directly.
i.e., if india WAS a colony, then you have to say that it WAS a colony.
"ruled as a colony" doesn't necessarily mean that; it could just signify that india was ruled as though it were a colony, even though it wasn't one.

但是E的含义是印度是英国人的殖民地，而非英国的殖民地。这两者有区别吗？

nope. the split here between British and Britain is only about the modifier - which or who.

谢谢大神！Modifier的用法明白，Britain用which，British用who，但是印度是英国人的殖民地的含义正确吗？应该说印度是英国——一个国家的殖民地吧？
