GWD-12-Q14（prep 222） 一个曼哈顿似乎也没有提到的点，有关主语表达

A. the numbers of trucks alone
B. that number of trucks alone
C. the number of trucks by themselves
D. as many trucks themselves
E. as many trucks by themselves


B. Correct；that number指代前面总和的469000，如果是the number，没有指代对象，似乎说是the number of trucks


however，我感觉很困惑。该怎么理解B 中的 number of trucks 的用法？？？因为A of B 的结构，不是表达 B 的A 么，那这里不就成了 多少卡车的数字走下了生产线，不就成了number 做主语？？于是我就排除了ABC

只问这个点，其他的点是懂得。

楼主 我不确定我说的对不对 但是按照我的理解这里之所以用that number是因为twice比较的是两个数字 然后后面的半句话的主语依然是trucks “twice that number of”在这里应该是起到修饰trucks的作用 意思就是表达有多少辆车

THAT 特指上述提到的那个数字。因此用that而不用the 这个泛指的概念。

我觉得这里的of并不是a of b里面的of，应该理解为a lot of里面的那种of，因为twice that number是一个整体表示了一定的数量，如果按照你说的that number是a of b里面的核心词的话，那么twice that number of trucks表达的意思应该就是that number of trucks的两倍了，that number指代的就不是前一句中的那个数字了，句意也改变了
