比较结构的省略简单来说只能省略出现过的内容，这里WERE比较的第一部分也出现过，可以省略

A这种形式无论什么时候出现都是错的，不能直接和年份进行比较。

给你贴一个关于比较省略的总结：

若第一部分为be+实意动词
—第二部分的Be动词时态可以不同，但是被省略动词时态必须相同。
—parking spots are disappearing much more quickly today than they were (disappearing)yesterday.
—若助动词所在SVO省略不会影响含义，则也可省略
—parking spots are disappearing much more quickly today than they were(disappearing) yesterday.
—若第一部分为其他助动词+实意动词
—第二部分助动词时态可以不同，但被省略动词时态必须相同
—James can negotiate with sales people more effectively than Stephanie can (negotiate with salespeople).
—I can run much faster than I could (run)  before my most recent knee operation.
—若助动词所在SVO省略不会影响含义，则也可省略

—若第一部分为实意动词
—第二部分动词可以用助动词的不同形式代替原实意动词。

—若助动词所在SVO省略不会影响含义，则也可省略

以及多嘴一句，我个人觉得除了上面这种说法，其他关于省略的说法都蛮扯的。。。
如果什么都能省，那哪里还有比较不对等的句子。。。

之前做过这道题，A是正确答案，居中的this year  与last 对面，省略了主谓（heating-oi l prices were expected to be
我有点不清楚的是，一般省略都是要么省略主谓后面的修饰语
我很少看到省略谓语，只保留主语的

这里是this year和last year两个时间状语在比较。
关于比较，论坛上各种理论，我觉得都不靠谱，官方疯狂打脸。
我个人就用两点来判断
I 比较对等 比如这道题里面的interest rates和1980s绝对不可比
II 比较第二部分省略的内容第一部分出没出现过，没有出现过就不能省略。

关于省略谓语，只保留主语
According to recent studies comparing the nutritional value of meat from wild animals and meat from domesticated animals, wild animals have less total fat than do livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat they think is good for cardiac health.

A. wild animals have less total fat than do livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat they think is
B. wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be
C. wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be

这道题正确选项是B，比较的是wild animals和livestock，省略了HAVE。

PPS：对于比较这个点，我emmm...选择放弃，有时候也会出现觉得两个都对的情况，我会用语感选觉得最clear的，当然也会错。
