Happy to help you here, dude. So here's the deal: the simple fact that you're asking this question means you already know what's up. You understand that the goals you list in your MBA need to be believable and achievable in order to get into an MBA program. Good work, my friend! A lot of very, very smart people don't understand that.
Now, what do I think about your goal? I think if you ultimately want to switch from consumer products to product management in your career you should! Is it possible? I don't work in Product Management or in tech so I can't tell you for sure. You should ask product managers! Speak to people in the industry in which you work and find out what THEY say. They're the ones that know it best and they will likely be the ones who will hire you But if you have any doubt if that's a viable goal, pick a different one for your applications. In your apps, write about a goal that connects more to your past experience. THat's the key to getting into bschool: you gotta have goals that make sense. Goals that the adcom believes you will be able to achieve with an MBA. And in this case, maybe the goal you write about isn't your ACTUAL goal. That's ok! Get into bschool and then do whatever you want! Pursue a path to product management! No one cares what you do once you get there - just do what you have to do to get in and then go after whateeeeever you want.
Good luck!
