which vs. that 以及which 修饰的先行词问题

1.well-informed people know that Bordeaux is a French region whose most famous export is the wine that bears its name.

Could "that bears its name" be replaced by "which bears its name"? and why ?

答案是说 the context of this sentence calls for an essential clause to modify the wine, since the point of the clause is to identify the wine. 我不能理解，为什么不能用 nonessential clause, nonessential clause 就算去掉也不会影响这句话的意思。

首先如果用which 引导前面一定要有comma，就像that一定不能有comma一样。

从意思上来讲，the famous export is the wine that bears its name, 如果像你说的去掉就变成the famous export is the wine. 意思是完全不同的。

就好比青岛最有名的是青岛啤酒和青岛最有名的是啤酒的区别。

是的，反正GMAT里你肯定找不到OA用which前面没有comma的。

不是重要的split

昨天也刚好看到MAN的这道题
我的理解是comma+which是用做modifier的一个形式，一般存在于非必要的modifier的情况下。
但现在句子的意思是，这是一个必要modifier,既然是必要modifier,就不能用which了，只能用that
