i would not choose A and C, bcoz "his time" is placed before the subject "Camille Saint-Saens ". it is ridiculous.

B is neglected for "having been".

but for the appositive, the article "A" is reqiured.

i suppose an artical "A" or "The" or an adj. should exist at the beginning of choices D and E. But since ETS abnormally cancels that word we all expected, i may choose D as well. after all, i like the structure in D.
