A lot of people, especially Americans, do not even know anything about Accounting PhD early in their career.  If they can't make it to partner or are stuck with Big 4 work, they would usually look for outside options. Accounting PhD (>200K/9month) would seem to be a nice career path...especially when they think they can handle PhD life and somehow "enjoy" academic life...

Go to work in big 4 (consulting is more exciting and reputable) to see if you like it (how ambitious you'll be), then decide if PhD is for you...

就我今年的申请的过程来看，学校还是希望招有工作经验的。但是如果你足够优秀的话，其实直接申请博士也是可行。

就是在PhD毕业找教职的时候，也是有工作经验的比较好，毕竟你是要给本科生上课的，会计是一门实务课程，有经验才能更好地讲解Financial Accounting。最好是去四大当auditor3年，然后去个牛校读MBA，然后直接在本校读PhD。

我觉得是有marginal 帮助的，但是不是那么decisive。同时也有一个时间成本问题，你工作两三年回头可能还要花一年准备GMAT，申请还有数学课，如果读个MBA又要两年，其实时间成本也是挺大的。而且也有朋友说很多工作过的人enter the program with questions，但是到后来都会换，有时候人的想法就是一直在变的

可是我们系主任就是说不用工作经验。因为我们acc专业honor 项目大四是必须去四大实习的。他就说如果申请博士很无所谓
