我选了E，OG解释： This sentence makes three points about hummingbirds: they live in the Western Hemisphere, they survive extreme climates, and their range is wide and varied.  平行结构，但真的不是太明白为什么E错了，B是对的，B中的their extending的句式结构和前面的也没有地方是平行啊？求帮助！

E的前两个短句是明显的comma splice错误，两个独立的clause之前只用逗号分隔。把逗号换成and就对了。你可能把X did A, did B and did C和这句话混淆了，这句话的格式是X does A and does B, and Y does C。这两个是不一样的。前者是X平行的做了三个动作，后者是X平行的做了两个动作，AND Y做了一个动作。

B不是平行句式，是一个主句加两个modifier。found...是修饰hummingbird；their range extending修饰hummingbird...整个这个clause。

大神，我还是有点不太理解有个地方，
“E的前两个短句是明显的comma splice错误，两个独立的clause之前只用逗号分隔”，这个意思： 只有两个独立的clause，才可以用comma分开 是么？

但在日常句式中，常常会有这类句式：Mary’s past record, to be sure, does not make her the most dependable secretary in the company. 这里为什么可以有逗号隔开呢？这种好像是叫插入语是么？为什么本题E选项不可以这么理解呢？

大神，我不是较真儿哦，我是真的不理解这个，每次这类题都会错，有什么RULE可以帮助吗？
这个E选项中的 survive through extremes of climate 为什么不可以看成插入语呢？

不是那个意思。两个独立的句子不能只用comma分开，即一定要有连词或者分号连接。

E里面survive through extremes of climate不能看做是插入语，原因有两点：1 survive是修饰什么？按句意看是hummingbirds，但是survive错误地紧跟在了hemisphere之后；2 作为插入语，应该是survived/surviving/etc

E的前两个clause 只有第一个是independent clause吧， 就这个Hummingbirds are found only in the Western Hemisphere；后面那个survive through extremes of climate并不是一个independent clause, 因为没有subject。因此我认为这不是一个经典的double subjects (comma splice)错误。 我觉得这题的陷阱还是在于判断句意。 OG 解释bird did A, B, and C 是对的，但是反应到这句话里，E错误在于 their range extends...这里把主语从鸟换成range了，所以造成unparallel.

说的对，确实第二个短句不是IC。改成Hummingbird 。。。and。。。，and their range。。。应该就对了。
