没有见过这种写法 而且很奇怪， 要结合前面的谓语来看

曼哈顿语法中说到避免用所有格加现在分词的用法。

另外，proposal，evidence这些，最好用从句，比如宾语从句，同位语从句等。

their not distracting from...

如果说distracting修饰their或its, 那么characteristics就变成their/its，而不是“没有被profit distract”的这件事

如果说是期望用所有格搭配动名词来组成noun phase, 那么characteristics是distracting/taking，总之就不是完整的概念. 更何况distract有distraction, 不应该使用distracting来作为动名词.

19verbal分册也出了这题 191，希望NN看一看我的理解是否正确：【modifier】[核心词]这个提议最好的特点之一应该是他们没有损毁、贬低整个项目整体利益这件事，因此应该用that从句而不是损毁贬低这个动作，因此不能用detracting这个名词形式
