a. 45% less than those of country B.  (less是修饰不可数的,怎么跟"those"呢?)
b. 45% fewer than that of country B.  (fewer 是修饰可数的,怎么跟"fewer"呢?

可以指教一下这两题的答案吗? 多谢!

1. 我认为答案为b.a会让人误解是writer attempt to stop himeself from writing another book.
2.我认为答案为b.因为比较的是amount.

我怀疑produces不对，应当是produce因为作为农产品讲的话是不可数的。
麦克米兰和郎文都如此解释：
[uncountable]
food or other things that have been grown or produced on a farm to be sold

agricultural/organic etc produce
fresh local produce
dairy produce

第2个选b, 与that比较的是1350tons这个数量。

同意that 是 AMOUNT数量， 可AMOUNT 修饰不可数名词， 这样的话用FEWER就错了，应用LESS THAN。
我觉的应是： LESS THAN THAT OF COUNTRY B。

关于第2个题我有两个疑问：
1、reduced 之前有没有be 动词？reduce可以主动吗？一般都是sb/sth reduce sth to... 或sth be reduced to .....
2、produce的单复数问题

我同意gt750，如果是LESS THAN THAT OF COUNTRY B 好理解一些。

我记得刘振民语法中有个句子与此问题有相通之处：LZM练习9-33

Even though the direct costs of malpractice disputes ( amount to a sum lower ) than one percent of the $541 bilion the nation spent on health care last year, doctors say fear of lawsuits plays a major role in health-care inflation.
该题解释：1、表示“少于金额”要用less  than 2、amount to a sum 属于同义复用。
这里的金额和我们讨论的amount 数量是不是很像?

1、这里可以直接使用reduced to，数学题中有许多这样的例子，强调的是状态

2、我以前理解错了，这里45% fewer than that of country B是修饰1345 tons的，同produce无关。
