120 decisions can be made quickly, or they can be made after careful thought. A or NA, the decisions that people make quickly are always wrong.
Decisions can be made either quickly or after careful thought. Generally speaking, making decisions after careful plan or consideration carries more weight than those made in a short time. However, it is not always the case. Sometimes, the decisions that people make quickly may also be right. I will hereby elaborate three reasons to demonstrate my point.
For one thing, we could make right decisions without careful thought because the choice is very obvious. A lot of such cases exist in our lives: we sleep when tired, eat when hungry and drink when thirsty. It goes without saying that we make these kinds of decisions spontaneously and do no need time to consider them carefully. Besides these instinct decisions, there are also other kinds of easy-made decisions too. For example, stopping cars when traffic light turns red or waiting in line to get a theater ticket. On the contrary, it would be ridiculous to hear that someone spend a lot of time consider whether he should stop or go forward when traffic light turns red.
In addition to easy decisions, even in some difficult circumstances, people could also make right decisions in a short time by relying on their experience. Such cases are found both in science and business. For instance, scientists decide experimental steps or procedures correctly and fast, because they have a lot of experience on scientific experiments. Similarly, a senior market director could make a quick and effective marketing strategy without sufficient data or careful consideration due to his long stretch of working experience on marketing. Hence, although some decisions seem not easy to make, people with great experience in related fields could also make a right decision in no time.
A more subtle reason is that the statement itself is somewhat vague because whether a person could make right decisions very quickly largely depends on his own ability. For someone, the problem may be delicate and hard to resolve, however in another person’s eyes, it may be simple for him to reach a right decision quickly.
Admittedly, we cannot deny many benefits careful thought brings to us and various examples show that careful consideration could promise a positive result, however, in above mentioned cases, quick decisions outweigh careful consideration.
In conclusion, to state that the decisions people make quickly are always wrong is too hasty and thus groundless because in some cases the decisions are obvious to choose and could be made quickly by virtue of our own experience and sometimes, people with sufficient analytical skills could find right answers right away.
