做GWD遇到的关于numbers与number的困惑！

In 1914 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks were produced in the United States, but in 1929 almost twice the numbers of tucks alone came off the assembly lines.

这道题选B（不明白为什么可以用that)，而解释说A错的原因是因为numbers不对，简直懵逼，因为我昨天刚做过一个：

In Scotland, the number of wild salmon have been reduced because of uncontrolled deep-sea and coastal netting, by pollution, and by various other threats to the fish’s habitat.

A.number of wild salmon have been reduced because of uncontrolled deep-sea and coastal netting

这道题正确答案是E

为什么numbers一下对，一下不对，求各位小伙伴帮忙看下！

个人观点
第一题由as many应该接as，排除d e
在a b c 中，我觉得排除的主要依据应该是the与that的区别，that是表示前面所提名词的“copy”,只能指之前的469000(1914的数据)，而the的话，会有歧义，我们一般说A is twice the number of B，但a c的表述方式并不是这样，排除a c

第二题
由主谓一致排除A C，然后由句意排除B(不可能是pollution controll the deep-sea and costal netting
剩下的D E都是numbers，只是句子结构完全不同，D中的by pollution and by...是that 从句的部分，而E中的by pollution and by...是整体句子并列结构的部分，与by uncontrolled...平行，从句意可以排除D

回答题主的疑问，我认为numbers 和 number的区别不能作为排除选项的标志，事实上the number of ....和 the numbers of... 的用法都存在， 比如在曼哈顿SC 6th中70页最下方有例句“The rare Montauk beaked griffin is not extinct; its NUMBERS are now suspected to be much greater than before”，可见numbers是可以用的。
