GMAT考平行结构，第一重要的是逻辑平行，其次才是结构平行。这道题的逻辑结构应该是 “从太阳那里获得体温”与“从燃烧卡路里那里获得体温”这两个意思平行。

根据这个原则，A,D 不对，错误是将“获得体温by drawing body heat” 与“燃烧卡路里 by burning .....” 来平行。

B，E的错误是 连词前后平行对象不一致。B将 generation of body heat 与 drawing their body heat 平行。名词与动词分词平行，而且逻辑上说不通。

E的错误类似。

支持A,E选项看似有理,再仔细想想,跳出语法,从整体来看,把简单问题复杂化.

先看A

A,引起大家不舒服的,无非2点:

1,后面少个by: 有时候平行对称,要看从哪里开始对称,这句A就是从by以后开始对称,所以drawing 对 burning 完全没错,公用一个by.以前都是强调补出介词什么的,那是为了句子更加清晰,但是语法上来说,A这种绝对没错.

2,it不舒服: 其实细细品味一下,这个it还真不能少. 原句里,体热啊,卡路里啊,弄得麻烦,我来举个类似的句子,大家看看---->

            小R,依靠从父亲那里索要购车款,而不是努力工作去挣这些购车款(原文的it),买下了一辆豪华轿车.

  大家看其实2组相同颜色的部分,其实是平行的.

再来看E

e前面有位战友分析了一下,看似比较有理,我也一开始被他说服了,说是从body head开始对称,也就是说:共享 by drawing...,粗一看,确实是一种解决方式,而且完成了一个比较完美地形式对称,但是,如果是 相对于body heat对称,句意变成了什么了?

大家看一下主干: by drawing sth1 instead of sth2 ,好像再说有两种body heat. drawing那种来自太阳的body heat1,而不要那种燃烧卡路里而产生的body heat2...

from the sun 和 generated by burning都是作为修饰成分分别修饰body heat1 和body heat2 (如果有人要是说 draw 和from搭配,那么draw from就和body heat2就不平行: draw sth1 from somewhere / draw sth2)

其实body heat只有一种:就是生命体的体热. 只存在达成body heat的方式不同,而不存在不同种类的body Heat.

好比我们说 "胜利",只有一种胜利,那就是赢了,打败别人了...胜利没有其它的什么种类,胜利就是胜利,只有达成方式不同,不存在胜利本身有啥不同.

1,本身 from doing sth 对不对不去说他, from doing sth1 by doing sth2. 这个结构用的一开就是别扭的表达.长得就是一个错误选项的脸.

2,原句有对比的意味在里面,c就根本少了对比的词,改变了原句的意思,从这点上就是要排除C了.

3, C如果要表达你所说意思,起码应该是

rather than from the burning of calories    .... 前面SUN 是个名词,后面起码你得弄个名词/动名词对应, from doing sth1就是一个分词结构前面套了from

实在是看不出来选哪个答案好了，总体来看还是A相对好些
A的rather than可以省略by，是可以的

从很多题目可以看出，不管是rather than还是instead of，把两个比较的对象对换下也应该是可以的，如这题

搞笑呢~ 这位仁兄排除A的原因就是假设了it不能指代heat。

事实上呢？it不是没有可能指代呀。。
