help,help,help

麻烦各位了,一直搞不懂啊。last-1-4-20

20. Abolish taxes, and real taxpayers would find that their disposable incomes have increased. Abolish taxes, and public employees would find that their incomes have disappeared.
Which one of the following is a logical conclusion that depends on information in both of the statements above?
(A) Public offices should be abolished so that disposable incomes will rise.
(B) The only real taxpayers are those who would have more to spend if they did not pay taxes.
(C) Public employees are not real taxpayers.
(D) Public employees’ incomes should not be taxed since they come from taxes.
(E) If there were no taxes, then public employees could not be paid.

看了各位的解释,还是不明白E 选项的错误。难道是因为它只是和第二个推论有关系和第一个没有联系就排除吗,考试时应该是种什么样的方法那,请教、、、、

I haven't seen the previous discussions, but i think the correct choice should be C.

First of all, at the first glance, i feel answer choice E makes too broad and absolute a conclusion. In LSAT, a too broad and absolute conclusion is usually, if not always, wrong. Furthermore, the question asks for "a logical conclusion that depends on information in BOTH of the statements", if E is the conclusion, the information in the first statement  - "Abolish taxes, and real taxpayers would find that their disposable incomes have increased.", is a total waste - has no bearing on the conclusion at all. Thus E is wrong.

谢谢。但是选择C的话,只是说employee的钱不会increase,那么就是说可能会disapear或者不变(满足第一句话,不一定满足第二句话),所以对C选项来说是可对可错的啊。不知道这样理解可否?

C is correct. The conclusion in C depends on information from both statements in the question stem.

Abolish tax, real taxpayers would find that their disposable incomes have increased, but not public employees', because they are not real taxpayers.

Abolish taxes, public employees would find that their incomes have disappeared. This couldn't have happened if they were real taxpayers.

If public employees were real taxpayers, the information given in both statements would be contradictory. Thus the conclusion in C must be correct -- public employees are not real taxpayers.
