E选项的解释比较错误，而非省略，但是OG13 SC65如下:也涉及到了类似的省略问题，却是没有比较错误。

C Correct. 这里的emergence 和 had previoulsy thought 省略了 than the time when they emerged 为什么这就不是错误比较呢。省略原则的边界在哪里呢？曼哈顿说以不引起歧义为准，那么对于42题的比较，正常人都知道 比较的肯定不是Know和now呀，logically可以明显理解到省略了they do呀。求大神帮助分析一下comparison，省略判断的原则边界在哪里？

又见大神您！
如你所说，我记住了than previously thought正确，但是问题在于不明白这种正确原理。
导致我以此类推，在做42题的时候认为than now也是正确的，结果做错了。
所以我爬上来想问问清楚，判断标准是啥？囧

你对42题E选项中比较对象的说法是对的，错的是OG解释，真心的，它错的地方多了。

比较结构中的省略，须满足两个条件：

1、不引起歧义。（曼哈顿里有很好的例句）

2、than右边省略的部分必须与左边对应部分完全一致。
42题中正确选项：would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic
红色部分与蓝色部分时态不一致，所以蓝色部分（they do）不能省略。

这个解释真好，同意。
我想知道问什么OG65题中：scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than previously thought 这个省略是对的。
看起来，这里省略的左右内容也是不完全一致的。当然这道题本身其他选项也有明显缺陷值得排除掉。但是单就这个选项来看，如何评价呢？

比较结构中的previously thought真是朵奇葩，我把能找到的例句都粘给你，看看有什么启发！

这三题中的previously结构的完整度是依此增加，而这三题的比较结构里也都是在比较主语。

只能说GMAC心太大了
