The issue of whether face-to-face conversation is better than other types of communication is complicated and debated one. Different people hold different view due to their respective background. Some people prefer face-to-face conversation. They think that face-to-face conversation can make communication clearer. On the other hand, others like other types of communication such as letter, e-mail, or telephone calls. They point out that when people are far away from each other, face-to-face conversation is impossible. As far as I am concerned, I prefer face-to-face conversation as a result of the following reasons.
First of all, one important reason why I choose face-to-face conversation is that face-to-face conversation can make communication more exact. When you talk to someone about some questions, they can hardly avoid the questions you care. You can ask them give you the serious answers. Therefore, there is at least the chance for misunderstanding to occur.
Second, face-to-face conversation can not only make others understand me but also allow me know about what others talk to me. When I make a face-to-face conversation with others, they can see my face, hear my tone, and feel my mood. In this way, they can deeply understand what I try to express. On the other hand, I can also understand others by my seeing, hearing, and feeling. Therefore, I prefer face-to-face conversation rather than other types of communication.
Admittedly, there is no denying that other types of conversation have their own advantages. For example, e-mail or telephone calls can make us communicate with people who are far away. Moreover, e-mail can be saved in our computer. This can avoid some disputes in the future. However, these conversations can make others avoid answering what you really want know or make others not think seriously. In general, I think that these types of conversation do not have the advantages discussed above.
To sum up, I prefer face-to-face conversation rather than other types of communication. Due to the above-mentioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive. I think that face-to-face conversation is a wise choice.
