Here, both portions refer to the PRESENT.

If both portions are converted to the PAST, we get:
The more coffee these doctors drank, the greater was their likelihood of having coronary disease.
Here, the verb was is added to the second portion to make it clear that their likelihood WAS greater IN THE PAST.

Therefore， 其实这两个倒装是一样的，满足了前后对称哦~~   在OG中遇到问题当然不能质疑答案，但是一定要多去问去查啦~~

其他4个选项错误太明显，不要再纠结唯一正确选项的细节。

the more。。。the more结构本来就考得少，倒装与否真的不是必错标志。

TN21-38题：In 1852 Robert Angus Smith published a detailed report of the chemistry of rain in a large area around the city of Manchester, England, noting that the closer one came to town, the more the city air would become increasingly acidic.

A. that the closer one came to town, the more the city air would become increasingly acidic
B. that the city air became increasingly acidic the closer one came to town
C. that coming closer to town, the city air became increasingly acidic
D. that the more the city air became increasingly acidic, the closer one was to town
E. the city air becoming increasingly acidic as one would come closer to town
正确答案是B，没想到吧？
A看着没错吧？但是其中的the more和increasingly语义重复了。

所以，先别用倒装来排除。
