我想问一下A选项的their 为什么可以指代monkfish, monkfish前面不是有介词 of 吗，代词不是不可以指代 被介词短语修饰的名词吗？？？

首先，这题不是一道很好的题，你可以看后来这题从prep12消失了，而且再也没考过。
这题有个逻辑问题：不可比。
就好象我奶奶不懂英语一样，我懂英语。
请问，我和我奶奶是能比还是不能比？我们之间有相同点吗？

你看句子要看意思，不能只看单词啊！

你读下这句话的意思，是monkfish有可能灭绝还是cod and haddock有可能灭绝？a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing中their应该指代谁？
退一万步说，你发现后半句ABE是复数，CD是单数了吗？即使不知道monkfish是不是单复数同型，看到选项提示也应该能反应过来指代的是cod and haddock或者monkfish吧？

再后退两万步，“monkfish前面不是有介词 of 吗，代词不是不可以指代 被介词短语修饰的名词吗” size of monkfish，谁修饰谁啊？是monkfish的size 还是 size的monkfish？核心词是size啊。

你本身知识有漏洞，做题不看句子的逻辑意思，还不会从选项里面看提示，题能做对才是小概率事件。

首先谢谢你的回答啦~~
不过我可能没有表达清楚，我知道这道题应该怎么做。
因为我记得以前不知道在哪里看到过  代词不能指代前面有介词的名词，所以才这样问。
因为这里的monkfish前面有of，所以their不能指代monkfish。

不过这样看来，这个规律是错的，是吗
