how to shorten essays ??

I have a prolem of writing concise essay without impacting its effectiveness...

take a topic like "contribution to the diversity of business school"  for an example..
the maximal words are 500..

ok, I should talk about 3 of my contributions with 3 specific examples..one example is one story...But every stody is complicated and have lots of words to make it clear...
how can I shorten the essay to 500??

could anybody give me some suggestions on such topic?
