So I think your profile is actually probably stronger than you think. With a 770 + an interesting job experience (which you have) you should be sticking to Top 20 schools. I know I know… you are worried about scholarship and money…. so let’s say top 30… but you basically want to go to the BEST-ranked school you can. In the long-term the payoff is so much greater, that’s it’s not to your advantage to cut corners…

UNC, Emory, Kelly, are all far more on your level than the other schools, so you should be applying there.

I agree with you on the long-term payoff. I'm not worrying about paying for top schools as most of them have loan options available for intl students   I mentioned scholarship because most schools after 20th don't provide that option...
It's very encouraging that you believe I should aim at a top-20. I definitely need to adjust my previous school selection now.

之前见过emory几位校友及招生老师kate，对他们印象非常好，计划round 2会申。
圣母最可惜就是没有机会接触到，缺乏深入了解…

16名后的学校yield rate都不会特别高，只要达到学校标准，offer大都会到手的。一起加油！

其实本来的目标一直是17-30名的学校，上个月g考出来后也出乎我的意料。
整体package较弱，所以不敢奢望m7啊，毕竟连排名12的yale都要讲究国内名校出身…

感觉你这个背景目前在美国很普遍。engineering bachelor + business master 出来很火的。建议选择一些偏理工科的学校，出来比较容易做你想做的。MIT, CMU, WPI（本人WPI毕业的，WPI在麻省还是很火的，特别你有工科背景）。
