action noun！

曼哈顿有一道题目是讲Parallelism的。Dr. King's "Letter from a Birminghan Jail" is a condemning of racial injustice and a calling for nonviolent resistance to that injustice.
答案是要改为Dr. King's "Letter from a Birminghan Jail" is a condemnation of racial injustice and a call for nonviolent resistance to that injustice.
理由是动词 is 把句子分成了平行的两部分，然而因为Dr. King's "Letter from a Birminghan Jail"是action noun phrase，所以is 后面的部分应当使用simple, common action nouns而不是gerunds.
有两点不懂的T T
第一个是为什么Dr. King's "Letter from a Birminghan Jail"是一个action noun phrase？
第二个是曼哈顿之前说“Of the two types of gerund phrases, only complex ones can be parallel to action nouns”，那为什么在这里不可以用complex gerunds？

第二个问题我自己弄懂了0 0
因为在有action noun的情况下，就使用noun而不使用gerund。condemning和calling都有noun的形式，即condemnation和call，因此就不需要再使用动名词了。
那么第一个问题呢？求助

答案的意思是说condemning of…和a calling for…是 action noun phrase，但是condemnation和call本身就是action noun，不用使用phrase。第一个问题可能是你理解错了答案。

2020年了 不过好在突然想通了
这个是曼哈顿语法第十一章平行部分第二题 前半截“金的信”是名词短语 后面的半截为了“maximize parallelism"所以也要用action noun形式 而前面介绍action noun的时候说大多数action noun是从verb变化来的 所以condemnation的用法是没错的 call本身是action noun所以就可以并列了
其实关键还是在于to be的is分隔开了前后 前面名词后面也要名词。。这个好像第十一章没讲（大哭）
