the extent指代不明，因此肯定没有the wether will grow warmer to what extent好。

B 选项中 whether Earth would get warmer和 what the extent would be 是平行的but it is not clear what the extent refers to,属于meaning error，改变了题目的意图。
C选项正确whether earth would grow warmer and to what extent( earth would grow warmer) are parallel in that each is noun clause serving as an object of 介词ON
D选项中  possibility and to what extent it might are not paralled. possiblity(Noun.) to what extent...(Noun clause)

我是这样理解的：因为whether Earth would get warmer "and"what the extent would be 是平行的，但是这样的话，what the extent would be就是在说，green house effects会到什么程度，不是在说全球变暖会到什么程度。改变了句子原有的意思

这道题B选项我也纠结了很久，我是这样理解的：what the extent would be中的the extent是特指，但是前文中没有出现过任何extent的内容，没有理由特指。

e.g.,
what he knows and who spoke to him --> parallel (two 'words that suggest questions' as explained above)
what he knows and the people who spoke to him --> nope
the things he knows and who spoke to him --> nope
the things he knows and the people who spoke to him --> parallel (two normal nouns)



这样看来E很容易排除了，因为and前后无论是whether还是what其实都是在说明一件事：greenhouse effects
但是E项，that硬生生指出了一个意义不明的东西，虽然我们无法确定它的指代，但是很显然，that在说一个无关的其他事物。
同理，B项的what表设问，但是描述的东西也从greenhouse effects变成了the extend。
归咎溯源，其实就是，平行时不仅仅要保持形式平行， 逻辑语意也要平行。
