请教收到多个录取通知的前辈：May I push other schools with my offer?

I am admitted by UMN with 6K scholarship for 2 years. I am still
waiting the decision from Georgetown and the invitation of interview
from Columbia, Yale... May I write to these schools and push them a bit
with UMN offer?

Waiting is a real sufferance. Thanks to share your experiences.

Well, it may not be a good idea to push one prestigious school to release its decision to you particularly by showing off how many offers you have offer from schools, especially Columbia, Yale is much better than UMN.

BTW, UMN stands for?

Well, I doubted this practice.

First of all, An offer from a 2-tier school  doesn't make any difference in the eyes of those prestigious schools such as Yale and Columbia.

secondly, Too many offers from other schools may show your lack of focus on those prestiious schools.

This practice may backfire: it may make those school to ding you rather than seriously consider your application.

Just my feeling.
