我觉得你对于申请美国的B-SCHOOL PHD还缺乏一些基本的认识. 首先, B-SCHOOL的PHD最后基本全是做数学, 不管是FINANCE还是ACCOUNTING. 不过FINANCE偏宏观一点, 做TIME SERIES比较多, ACCOUNTING偏微观一点, 做OPTIMIZATION和GAME THEORY更多. 但是根据我商学院的哥们说, 现在FINANCE也在炒GAME THEORY, 估计这数学要求上的细分越来越小了. 其次, B-SCHOOL招人就喜欢看你的数学和计算机编程背景, 所以如果你是MATHS, PHYSICS或者CS的PHD, 申请FINANCE或者ACCOUNTING的PHD有很大的优势. 经济系大家都知道中国国内的数学要求, 因此申请上绝对是很不利的, 肯定不如一般的国内理科有优势. 不过如果你在美国或者欧洲学的是ECONOMETRICS, 估计情况会好点, 但是我估计不是TOP 10 ECON 的MASTER IN ECONOMETRICS或者TOP 50的PHD IN ECONOMETRICS, 就算有ECONOMETRICS的背景也完全没用,共同体B-SCHOOL还是会觉得你数学背景不够. 至于什么FINANCE管ACCOUNTING之说, 就实在莫名其妙了, 90%的B-SCHOOL PHD毕业都是去做FACULTY, 剩下的是进大公司研究部,哪来的管理之说 总之, 美国的BSCHOOL的PHD是纯理论研究的, 实际上最后就是做很复杂的数学. 如果对数学研究一点兴趣都没有的人, 还是不要受那个苦了
Based on my experience, it doesn't seem to be so. I have little math background and no background in CS, but I did get admissions from good schools. also, I don't think all the research in b-schools eventually becomes research in math......probably I havn't got into real research but the senior students in my department don't seem to be math researcher.... |
