本人很菜 如有错误 多多包涵 楼主写的真好啊 找不出什么错误 全文逻辑严谨啊 学习了 It is undeniable that we live in a society with innumerous problems. Some of these problems are affecting our daily life directly, so that everyone desires to figure out the solutions(解决办法吗?应该是 figure out the problems ).However, from my perspective, most of these important problems cannot be solved in our lifetime.(题目是the most impotant problem 你想表达“大多数”?)
First and foremost, to solve these complicated problems, we will have to sacrifice our own benefits and profits to some degree. But the truth is most of us are too selfish and greedy to strive for solving these problems together. The reactions of inhabitants in Texas to the decline of irrigation water source can illustrate this point very well. Many farmers there have been attempting to conserve water by irrigating less frequently or switching to plant drought-resistant crops. Others, however, have adopted the philosophy that it is wise to use the water while it is still economically profitable. As the result, the incentive of the farmers who wish to conserve water is reduced by their knowledge that many of their neighbors are profiting by using great amounts of water, which eventually draw down the entire region's water supplies. In this case, it is unlikely to work out these important problems in our lifetime because of human nature.(这个例子很好,貌似是托福阅读中的吧!!楼主很厉害啊 是原文搬过来的吗?)
In the second place, though science and technology has improved dramatically, it doesn't reach to the point where it can solve some of these important problems. Take alternative energy resource as an example. The scarcity and high cost of the current energy resources such as fuel and coat force people to look for an alternative. The dream of utilizing solar energy in large scale has been around for centuries, but the problem is no techniques and devices have been invented to work out the problem about the storage of solar energy. This is not a unique example. It occurs to some other similar situations, such as the cure for AIDS.
However, we should not fell exhausted and depressed about these unanswered problems. In contrast, we should attempt to work hard to seek the solutions to these important problems. Though we may not make a great though about these important problems in our lifetime, based on the knowledge we leave behind, one day, our kids will figure these problems out with their own intelligence and diligence. Just like we enjoy the fruits of our predecessors and achieve lots of success, such as the development of genetic engineering and the invention of the Internet.
In a nutshell, considering the selfish human nature and the limitations of the current techniques, it is impossible to solve the most important problems in our lifetime. |
