15 The practical significance hidden in therecommendation about choosing lucrative careers is what I admire. However, therole education institutions act as a dictator and the idea for career choosingindicate by the recommendation is what I cannot agree. Take the time and the money devoted toeducation as a long-term investment, one has sufficient reasons to expect maximumthe repayment from education. A lucrative career assures a relevantly highsalary and cozy life, which can be the visible benefits in return. The educationalinstitutions’ recommendation of choosing fields correspond with lucrative careersis sensible from therealistic viewpoint. However, take the purpose of education forindividuals into consideration, the recommendation should be more reasonablyraised by raining center. Since training is intended primarily for the serviceof society while education for the individual. The educational institutionshould play a more constructive role in a student’s decision by appreciatinghis/her decision and guiding him/her forward. Training supplies the practicalneeds for both society and individuals. And these needs, training center, suchas professional and trade schools, fill. Students must be free of choosingfirst, and educational institutions provide professional and proper guidance fortheir chosen fields then. Aside from what discussed above, guidancefor field choosing with the idea of pursuing a lucrative career benefits littleto most individuals and the society. Firstly, the first step on one’s journeyshould be an examination or self-assessment of his/her interests. Educationalpsychology has identified two basic classification of motivation-intrinsic andextrinsic. Both of them are important, but the most sustainable one should bethe intrinsic. Interests are one of the main original of intrinsic. Studentswho study with interest learn more efficient, and one’s passion and talent oncertain filed would not be easily wasted. Students motivated by extrinsic suchas an assurance of lucrative career, can be a grade-oriented one. Even if theyreach the goal to get the lucrative career, they are harder to obtain self-fulfillmentwithout intrinsic compared with the students motivated by intrinsic. Secondly, even if the study on certainfield can assure a lucrative career now, this cannot be the case in the future. When supply exceeds demand in human resources of certain lucrative careers. Studentswould face with serious employment situation. It is harder to get a jobneedless to get a lucrative one. For example, the shortage of professionalstransfer the students major in industry to be welcome while the students majorin economic are facing with fierce competition. When theconsequence really occurs, apologize for offering such recommendation isuseless. Thirdly, not only to the individuals, butalso to the society, the idea can be harmful. A well-run society relies oncontributions from all kinds of career. When more graduates devote themselvesto the lucrative careers, other careers would certainly suffer from talentshortage. The imbalance between supply and demand of human resources indifferent careers result in the imbalance of society development, which isalways the origin of many social problems. Finally, it seems to me that educationalinstitutions should focus on education, and the choice of field should bedecided by students themselves. After all, you’ll never know what is waitingfor you toward unless go forward. |
