跟大伙汇报下BYU面试情况

昨晚11点 BYU面试Professor Dr Sawaya面的 人特别的nice，风格很conversational
面试时间20分钟不到

开头寒暄好了就直接问

So why are you so interested in BYU?
我开始没找到稿子，有些紧张 回答的有点结巴 答了一半才终于看到在稿子的什么地方 到后面一半就顺了
说完他说very good

看了下我的简历 问了个promotion的问题
clarify了一下

At this job, What did you learn from an occasion?
我回答了我leadership的列子
他说great。

问如果你下面来了新人，你会对他说什么？
我说了两点 － 1 Be Honest to company, because bribery is widely existed phenomenon in China and is a very sensitive at purchasing. Honesty to the company is very important. This will be the first thing I want to talk with my new stuff. 他很seriously答应了下。2 我会告诉新人 to work hard - 我说I performed very well so far because I tried my best. Everyone is smart as long as he gives his best at sth, he will do a great job.  （这个我回答的不够好。。 至少应该再加一个teamwork， hard－working太老套）

完了他就问我有没有什么问题问他。我说我有很多问题，不知道他有没有时间, 他很大方地很了很多时间让我提问。Q&A:

Can you recommend any SCbooks before I start MBA?
他说他可以email给我

Which courses are you givinglecture now， beside Operation？
他说他可能还教logistics。他同时推荐了另一个教授 Wollin 说她以前是intel的，教的特好。

Is there any possibility for me to assist in your research team?
他说不巧 我的第一年不能做PT的，而他会再我的第二年退休了。。 我说很可惜，那我看看能不能 assist Wollin吧。他说给她工作会很好的。

What’s your strategy of student recruiting in developing countries like China？As I know BYU does not have many Chinese students right now.他说是的 BYU每年中国学生大约4个吧， 他说这块不是他们的focus。他好像怕我担心中国学生不多影响就业 他说他们和很多再中国投资的美国公司合作 就像我现在的公司。

我们趁机聊了我们公司的市场总监再BYU教marketing 他说见过他的，说‘我当然认识他了 就是不知道他记不记得我’ 有点幽默
我说他肯定记得你的 然后我就转到另一个校友 问他认不认识 他好像很熟
我就告诉他 ‘He told me, in many ways, you are like  a grandfather。’ 他哈哈大笑

问我的问题很少的 我问他还有什么需要了解的吗？
他说不需要了 面试国际学生主要了解他们的沟通能力
他说我的语言完全没有问题
我趁机告诉他 I have contacts with people from almost every continent.
他说他听出来我有德国口音
我说 是因为我有20多个德国朋友
感后就是closing speech 感谢了下他花时间 感谢他愿意给我recommend SCM的书。remind他别忘了email我哦～ 他说他make notes了。愉快结束～

面试的时间太短我有点担心 但是聊的感觉很好 God bless me...
另外，中国人申请BYU的不多。同申的朋友欢迎留贴。

娃她妈1月初就全部提交了，过去找负责招生的，说G很strong，但T口语不符合要求，建议重考。他家要求比较strict，一定要口语22以上，每项21以上，没有商量余地。

BYU mba的中国学生很少，去年好像是2个，前年好像没有，再前年也是2个。BTW,我们在slc，开车过去45分钟。

Thanks for your post!
Will your wife retake TOEFL? I hope to meet your family there in BYU...

I submitted by the R1 deadline and received interview invitation after 5 weeks. They explained it took time because they were dealing with last year's deferrals and re-applicants.

I've been in contact with their student club leader Esther and he told me they have more than 20 students from Greater China. I'll contact one Chinese student.

G710, T101(oral 22), WE 6 years till enrollment, 3 years sales in real estate + 3 years Purchasing in manufacturing

I think beside essay, my recommendation helped me stand out. I got one recommendation from the Eyring family(major donator of BYU), one from a Kellogg EMBA, one from an HBS MBA. Also I got ecclesiastical endorsement from Mormon Bishop who is the president of my company. So I was very lucky.

BYU is rather rather inexpensive.
Unfortunately, they request a WES credential of transcripts. I just don't have time.
Did you go through the torturous process?

谢谢LS，我有申请WES的report的。

说到inexpensive，BYU的学费有70％由教会承担了，所以就算没有奖学金，一旦进入就等于70％奖了。而且他们今年很照顾国际女生。我今天得到消息，由于我是international female，应该会有一些奖学金，具体金额到3月才决定。
BYU是个很好的学校。我接触下来的所有人（adcom，alumni，student，professor）都非常nice 而且professional。每个人都特别帮忙。
另外，在美国人眼里，BYU是个很值得尊敬的学校。我的所有美国朋友都说得这个学校很好。Utah州的人更是说有了BYU offer，叫我别的学校都可以忘掉了。我感觉要是在美国发展这个学校很好的。
