Despite 20 kilometers far from my home to the office, I can have an abundance breakfast at 7:30 every morning, start half an hour later from home and arrive the office at 8:30 on time. Without my Buick car, it is even difficult to image. Undoubtedly, automobiles have changed our live tremendously.

 

On the one hand, automobiles change the conventional resident-work pattern. In the past, normally, people lived close to where they worked, or sometimes they even lived in the factory. But currently in many developed country, a multitude of people work at the site tens of miles away from their home. Commuting between home and office via expressway is convenient and effective. But it is next to impossible about 100 years before. To put it in another way, people can live in a city but work in another city. To live far away from the polluted industry area is a feasible choice for most of the people due to the automobiles.

 

On the other hand, automobiles make long distance transportation possible. Today automobile can freight thousands of miles with several days, so in the north area, we can even enjoy the gourmet fruits from the tropics. They are all carried by special trucks. Meanwhile, automobiles are changing people’s life style. More and more city people prefer spend weekend to countryside instead of staying home, watching TV or going shopping. Just image being on the way to the suburb by driving with the family and enjoying the beautiful scenery beside of the road, what a cheerful picture!

 

Of course, from an objective perspective, automobiles result to many serious problems we never met before. The global warming is becoming a severe issue, and the automobile emission is one of the primary contributions of the greenhouse gases. Though most of the countries are implementing more stringent emission standards, with the surge of the automobile amount all over the world, the automobile emission is becoming out of control. What’s more, automobile accident contribute to a large part of death every year in the world, surpassing some fatal diseases, say, AIDS, say nothing of wounded. With the reasons abovementioned, somebody even say automobile will be the killer of human and earth eventually. Accompanying the convenience of automobiles, we are suffering pressing safety and environmental issues.

 

All in all, our life has completely changed because of automobiles. We are jovial with the convenience and express transportation in despite of some outstanding problems. It is difficult to image the life without any automobiles.
