我也不知道为什么不用there was

   E，（1）我觉得错在has，原句表达一种存在而不是主动拥有，
      （2）而且E中four times as many as 补充说明什么呢？？是every thirty-two pupils还是one microcomputer？？似乎不如one microcomputer for every thirty-two pupils,（一个比例）是four times as many as there were（另一个比例）表达清楚

   一家之言，不知道对不对，请牛人来指点吧
